Individual Therapy

As discussed on my home page, my approach is informed by the relational psychodynamic/psychoanalytic stance.  As we consider problems of the here-and-now, we will also get curious about aspects of your history in an interactive, engage and responsive manner. We will also consider what it means to be you in a body that contains many histories and how those histories are being interacted with in the prsent.

If you are interested in my services, feel free to contact me to discuss the ways in which we may work together.

Areas of speciality and interest for individual therapy:

  • Relationship Issues. Feelings of isolation, communication problems, intimacy concerns, stress and disconnection in relationships, navigating family transitions including perinatal and postpartum experiences, gestational and non-gestational experiences of parenting and impact of children on relationships and sexual intimacy.

  • Identity. Concerns related to sense of self, including developing a robust sense of self, deeper relationship with one’s emotional life, care given to one’s experience of identity as it relates to professional identity, gender, sexuality and racial identity development, and parenthood.

  • Anxiety and Mood. Feelings of overwhelm, loss of what feels rewarding or meaningful, perfectionism, feeling blue or, alternatively, feeling nothing at all.

  • Career Concerns. Work-life balance, including feeling desire to become more embodied in your career of choice.

Consultation

I provide clinical consultation for therapists and therapists-in-training who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of psychodynamic therapy. I offer these services both through my individual practice and in conjunction with my colleague, Ali Kimmell, LCSW. More about our work together can be found here. My belief is that the way identities are held, responded to and reflected in the cultural surround is an impactful and meaningful relationship that informs psychological development and interpersonal realities. It is my belief that this trifecta of considerations: socio-cultural awareness, emotional histories and psychological development, provides a lens with which to provide effective treatment.
